Abstract

1-iodo-4-nitrobenzene (INB) was dissolved in ethanol and prepared solution with concentration of 1.0กม10-2, 1.0กม10-3, 1.0กม10-4 and 1.0กม10-5 M. Highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) was used as substrate in the formation of nanowire. Scanning tunneling microscope (STM) was used to measure structure of nanowire on HOPG. Experimentally, nanowire of 1-iodo-4-nitrobenzene was found on HOPG by STM measurement at room temperature in air. The mechanism of formation of nanowire is briefly discussed in this paper.
